Jeff Ennenga

Wildfire Resilience Program Manager
Biography

Jeff Ennenga brings decades of Alaska wildland fire experience to AVF and is passionate about increasing wildfire resilience across Alaska. Recognizing the escalating severity of wildfires in Alaska and the increasing threat they pose to communities, Jeff is using his wildland fire management, emergency preparedness and fire training expertise to better prepare and help empower communities to equitably engage in wildfire prevention, mitigation and build resilience.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Jeff moved to Girdwood, Alaska in 1995 looking for adventure and began his firefighting career as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT. Jeff joined the Tazlina Hotshots as a wildland firefighter and helped develop the State’s Pioneer Peak Interagency Hotshot Crew. After the State of Alaska Division of Forestry, Jeff worked for the Alaska State Fire Marshal and the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management before relocating to Oregon to work for Oregon Department of Forestry. Jeff ran the Wildland Fire and Emergency Management program for Clackamas Community College in Oregon for several years and the Wildland Program for the Clackamas Fire District. Deep community connections and love for Alaska’s outdoors brought Jeff and his family back home to Alaska. Dedicated to ongoing teaching and learning, Jeff is excited to share his expertise as part of the AVF team and advance wildfire initiatives that will improve the lives of Alaskans all over the state.
