Charlie Burnett

Biography

Charlie Burnett is passionate about sustainability and the connection between communities and the land in Alaska. He is excited to bring his operational and organizational experience to AVF and contribute to work that strengthens Alaska’s communities and future.

Charlie grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the ancestral lands of the Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk, and Menominee peoples. He earned a degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and spent the first decade of his career in outdoor education, creating opportunities for young people to develop a deeper connection to the natural world. Through that work, he developed a lasting passion for building community around a shared connection to place.

Charlie lives in Girdwood and spends as much time as he can exploring Alaska’s mountains, rivers and coastlines by ski, boat, bike,and on foot.
