Amanda Wheelock
Team MemberBiography
Amanda joins Alaska Venture Fund with more than a decade of experience at the intersection of land management, collaborative conservation and community resilience. As the Acting District Ranger and Deputy District Ranger for the nation’s most-visited National Forest lands, she partnered extensively with local wildland fire agencies, governments, nonprofits, and businesses on projects ranging from cross-boundary fuels reduction to stream restoration to innovative solutions for employee housing. Her previous work also includes time as a Natural Resources Fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives, as Policy and Communications Manager for the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, and as an outdoor educator in California, New Hampshire, Colorado, and North Carolina.
Amanda holds a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management from the University of Michigan, where she was named a Wyss Scholar for Conservation of the American West, and a BA in Geography and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College. She lives with her husband on Dena’ina land in Anchorage.
