Biography

Maggie is a Carbon and Climate Fellow through the Alaska Fellows Program. Her work at Alaska Venture Fund focuses on the ways that Alaska’s vast natural resources can be employed towards climate goals–through the preservation of forests, aquatic ecosystems, permafrost, and the implementation of new technologies–while also strengthening local communities and building long-term economic opportunity. During the summer of 2022, Maggie worked in Denali National Park, where she witnessed the impacts of climate change on Alaskan communities and ecosystems firsthand. She is excited to return to Alaska to continue learning about those changes and investigating pathways towards a more sustainable, resilient future for the state.

Maggie is a graduate of Middlebury College, where she received a B.A. in Environmental Policy and French. During college, she worked as a Climate Action Fellow and the Senior News Editor of The Middlebury Campus newspaper. She has experience working in policy research and environmental journalism, which she hopes to bring to Alaska Venture Fund’s climate work. Her passion for community climate adaptation led her to Alaska Venture Fund, and continues to motivate her work.

She lives on Dena’ina land in Anchorage and enjoys running, hiking, skiing, and any other opportunity to get outside.
